Obituary of Ciara Christina Hill

It is with heavy hearts we share the loss of our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, granddaughter and friend; Ciara Christina Hill. Ciara Christina Hill, daughter of Tina (Kaminski) and Charles Hill, was born March 8th, 1990 in St. Catharines Ontario. Ciara’s loving extended family includes three siblings, Angelica Hill (Jacob), David-Lee (Bryar) and Jeremy Becker (Jessica) stepmother Laurie Szumowski, stepfather Jeremy Flanagan, her niece and nephew, Brileigh and Jacob, and her two dear feline companions Zeke and Mini. Ciara was an active, bright, fun-loving child. She was always curious, loved learning new things and exploring nature. Ciara was passionate about animals, the outdoors, the environment and her smile lit up any room she walked into.  Ciara was self-driven and open to trying new things in different ways. As a young adult Ciara continued her love of learning and graduated from Collegiate High School with honors, and went on to complete her Bachelor's Degree in Business, and was currently finishing her Master’s Degree from Athabasca University. Ciara’s love of learning and adventure led her to explore the healing depths of Yoga while attending retreats in British Columbia and in Ontario. She embraced competitive bodybuilding, winning local and regional competitions. She loved nature walks and spending time on the water kayaking. Anyone who met Ciara would immediately recognize her joy for fashion and interior design. Ciara was a helpful friend who always provided thoughtful advice, her mind so intelligent, and passionate about her First Nations identity. Ciara was socially justice driven, and this was evident during her time working for the Niagara Regional Native Center serving the Indigenous community. Ciara touched the minds and hearts of so many people. We will miss sharing a cup of coffee with her and cuddling up watching movies.  Ciara, although you are gone far too soon, we vow to honor your memory and celebrate the life you lead. You will walk beside us every day, and you will live on through the stories and memories we reminisce and share. We will honor you and continue living for you even if that seems impossible at the moment. It is our hope that you are at peace now, in heaven with your grandfathers and Mojo and JoJo, your beloved cats. This is not good-bye; we will see each other again one day.  A private family service for Ciara was held on Monday September 18, 2023.
