Obituary of Anita Caskenette

Caskenette, Anita Margaret (May 13, 1922 to October 1, 2018) With all our love and a lifetime of memories, the family of Anita Caskenette (Phelan) announce her passing on October 1, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Harry Caskenette (2000). Loving mother of Jerry (Wendy), Don (Lana) and Marilyn (Harry Ebert). Cherished Grandmother of Mark, Natalie (Colum), Alyson (Lawrie), Erin, Andrew (Elisabeth) and Amber (Peter). Great Grandmother of Abbey, Ellie, Cora, Georgia, Sophie, Fay and Adrian. Dear sister of Bud (late Helen), Frank (Betty) and Hub (Marilyn) and sister-in-law of Lorraine Andrews (late Stan). Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a grandson Daniel Caskenette, a sister Ruth (late Jack Burrows) and a brother Matt (late Muriel), a brother-in-law Jerome Caskenette (late Hedy) and sister-in-law Leona (Peter Chomitz). Anita was a kind and gentle lady who will be remembered for her love of family, her smile, her sense of humour and many talents such as knitting (baby outfits and blankets), baking (lemon meringue pies), sewing, and singing (Lady’s Barbershop). She was a sixty year member of the Catholic Women’s League. Anita was a self proclaimed “people person” who was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She inherited the Phelan “Gift of Gab” and infectious laugh that will echo in our minds and hearts forever. A special thank you to her many caregivers and visitors who generously offered their time, kindness and skills; especially Lise and Patti from CCAC and all of the caring staff of Ina Grafton Gage Village (Long Term Care). Visitation will be held at Patrick J Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Thursday October 4, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Thursday October 4, 2018 at 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines (905-934-9703) on Friday October 5, 2018, at 11am. Rite of committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. “Our family was blessed with a wonderful mother who lived long, laughed often, loved and was loved deeply.”
