Obituary of Genevieve Robertson

Robertson, Genevieve “Gen” Passed away peacefully at Henley House in St. Catharines on Sunday, May 13, 2018. In her 94th year, Genevieve Robertson (nee Stortz), beloved wife of the late J.M. “Jack” Robertson. Loving mother of Theresa and Patrick “Pat” (Millie ). Loved grandmother of Amanda (Ryan Stewart), Carrie (Chris Rogers), Stacy and Emily. Great grandmother of Lexi, Sophie, Lily and Maddy. Dear sister of Adele Raftis (late Wilfred) and Rev. George Stortz. Sister-in-law of Sheila (late Ambrose). Fondly remembered by her several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Helen (Ivor Walsh) and three brothers Frank (Bridget), John ( Mary) and Ambrose. Gen retired as a Lincoln County Catholic teacher in 1984. She was born in Arthur, Ontario in 1924, living most of her life in St. Catharines. Her teaching career being at St.Anthony’s School in Western Hill, and a long serving member of St.Mary of the Assumption Church and an active member of the CWL for over fifty years. Gen’s family would like to thank the Woodend staff at Henley House for their care and compassion during her short stay. Visitation will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Home, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 2pm to 5pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 169 St. Paul Cres., St. Catharines (905-682-3843) on Thursday, Mary 17, 2018 at 11am. Rite of committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to either the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Mary of the Assumption Church would be appreciated.
