Obituary of Anton Kretz

Anton (Anthony, Tony) Kretz 1918 to 2017 Anthony (Tony) Kretz, born in Altnau Switzerland died early morning November 25th, 2017. Each of his children kept bedside vigil at his home during the final days of his life. Tony overfilled every one of the hundred years he was given. Swiss born, top male honours matriculation graduate from St.Catharines Collegiate, distinguished RCAF radar technician (served overseas). With his beloved wife Kathleen (Kitty) they raised seven children in the house he designed. He had a 46 year business career culminating as Corporate Secretary of Foster Wheeler Canada. Tony crafted furniture and keepsakes, wired homes and cottages, helped build wherever he could. Creating fond memories held by so many are all hints of a life well lived. His faith in God remained steadfast throughout his life. Right through the end, he kept his keen intellect, his curiosity, his sense of humour and his pride of family. Tony was pre-deceased by: Kathleen (Kitty) his wife of 69 years, his parents, Konrad and Sophie, brothers and sisters: Conrad, Sister Mary, Joe, Walter, Ann, Alois, Alphonse and Theresa. He is survived by his brothers Frank, Bert and John, his sister Agnes and sister-in-law Patricia Walsh (Edinburgh, Scotland). Tony is survived by his seven children: Margaret (Yehia), Lynn (Rick), Karen (Dennis), Renee (Jerry), Ted (Charlene), Stephen (Mary) and Sheila (Ed), 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A special thank you to Babes and Donna, his palliative care nursing team and all the compassionate caregivers, especially Guardian Angel Home Care, who helped Dad through this journey. Visitation will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Tuesday, November 28th from 2pm to 4pm and 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 2 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, (230 Lake Street, St. Catharines) on Wednesday, November 29th 2017 at 11 am. Rite of Committal to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Food for Children, 40 King George Rd. Toronto, M8X 1L3 or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
