Obituary of Edward Horwat

Horwat, Edward Joseph Passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at St. Andrew's Terrace in Cambridge, Ontario at the age of 70. Ed is predeceased by his parents Stephen and Genevieve Horwat. He is lovingly remembered by his brothers Stephen (Ursula), Dennis (Ida), sisters Sharyn and Janice, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Ed was born in St. Catharines in 1946. He was employed in a variety of occupations. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy, was a real estate agent and horticologist. In his early adult years he was an active member of the Polish Club and loved to dance. Unfortunately, Ed was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and spent the majority of his life under care of his parents. For several years he resided in Welland, Ontario, at Plymouth Cordage Retirement Home where his sister Janice assisted in Ed's daily living and care. Ed's final three years were spent in long term care in Cambridge where he was cared for and supported by Steve and Ursula Horwat. During Ed's struggle with MS he enjoyed reading, studying scripture, keeping up with news and current events and spending time with family. Visitation will be at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 10am unitl time of service Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
