Obituary of Blaise McGillivray

McGillivray, Blaise ~ Peacefully at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital in St. Catharines on Saturday, November 17, 2012. In his 91st year, Blaise McGillivray, beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen McGillivray (2005). Loving father of Jim Kavanaugh (Margo), Diana (Robert Lori), Valarie Kavanaugh (Stacey) and Ed Kavanaugh (Emily). “Grandpa” - “Papa Blaise” will be dearly remembered by his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dear brother of James and Bernadette, both of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Tom, his sisters Geraldine, Mary, Genevieve, Lenora, Laura and his brother Waldon. Blaise is a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. A long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24 and a retired employee of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Friends may call at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street (905-685-6584), on Thursday, November 22, 2012 from 2 … 4 pm & 7 … 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, 67 Church St., St. Catharines on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 1:30pm. Vigil prayers will be celebrated in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 8:30 pm. The Rite of Committal to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24 are requested to attend a memorial service at the funeral home on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 6:45pm.
