Beloved mother of eight “only” children, Anne Hildebrandt, Tony (Colleen), Alf (Joanne), Patricia (Jorge) DeMaria, Joe (Helen), Casey (Michael) Jones, Mike (Betty Anne), and Jackie (George) Henry. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, Matthew, Sarah, Erich, Jeff (Tracy), Greg, Christopher, Jamie (Jen), Michael (Jenn), David, Patrick, Rachel, Jenny, Jake, Nik, Joe, George, Hattie (Scott), Ben and five great-grandchildren, Jack, Abby, Calli, Xavier and Olivia. She was loved and cherished by her many nieces and nephews. Kathleen was the youngest child and only daughter of Alfred Stockwell and Mary Darby. She was predeceased by her 6 older brothers. She is survived by one remaining sister-in-law, Evelyn Haslan of Toronto. A tall athletic woman she played shortstop for the Port Dalhousie Lakesides women’s baseball team in the 1930s and also played hockey. Famous for her hand knit socks and love of Christmas but most importantly her wit and sense of humour. She made everyone welcome in her home; there was always room for one more at the table. She loved hats and tea parties and anything Royal. She was a kind and gracious lady to the end. Friends will be received at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 30 Court St., St. Catharines on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 7 pm to 9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Denis Catholic Church, 230 Lake St., St. Catharines on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11am.
