Obituary of Antonia Wilhelmina Van Leeuwen

VanLeeuwen, Antonia (Toni) Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Tufford Nursing Home on February 6, 2021. In her 93rd year, Antonia (Toni) was beloved wife of the late Johannes (John) VanLeeuwen (2006). Loving mother of Gerry (Colleen), Nellie (Chris McCurdy), late John (2011) and Michael. Oma to Robbie (Wendy) Fraser and great Oma to Douglas, Christopher and Samantha. Toni was born in Loosduinen, the Netherlands on May 27, 1928 to Adrianus Zuidwijk and Antonia (Denie). With husband John they set sail for Canada in 1953 to embark on a new life and raise a family. Mom had a passion for sewing and all types of handicrafts such as knitting, crocheting and needlepoint. Predeceased by sisters Rina, Sjaan, Dora and Doreen. Survived by sisters Riet and Nel and sisters-in-law Mary VanLeeuwen and Annette VanLeeuwen. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada and the Netherlands. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 10am-12pm, for those that wish to attend please contact the family. A private family service will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel. Rite of committal will follow at Pleasantview Memorial. A live stream of the service can be viewed at 12:00pm on Friday at In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
