Obituary of Waltrina Belushak

Belushak, Waltrina (Elsie) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Waltrina on December 24, 2020 at the age of 94 at Extendicare St. Catharines. Loving wife of the late Paul Belushak (2003) for 52 years. Beloved mother of Julia Blushak and Paul Blushak (Lou-Anne). Survived by her brother Mitchell Yack (Shirley). Predeceased by her father Karol, her mother Nellie, and her sister Stella. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Waltrina came to Canada in 1930 with her mother and sister on the SS Megantic from Poland. After living in Christie, ON during the Depression the family moved to Virgil, ON to farm. During WWII she worked at St. Catharines Steel, a job that she loved, where she helped to manufacture ordinance for the Allies. She raised her family in Welland before moving to Niagara Falls (Stamford) in 1965. She worked sporadically at Bright’s Wines, tying grapes, and at Laura Secord Chocolate’s on Clifton Hill. Waltrina, while she worked multiple jobs, also worked in the home, raising her children. Despite suffering through many great hardships and calamity’s in her life, she always maintained a strong faith in Jesus and the reward thereafter. She was selfless, caring, honest, had a great work ethic, was a fantastic wife, mother, and friend. Her baking, cooking, gardening, and seamstress work were excellent, not to mention being an incredible first-aid nurse. Many thanks to the PSW’s, nurses and staff at Extendicare where she will be greatly missed for her dignity, grace and never complaining. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, a Catholic Mass will be celebrated privately by the family with a rite of committal to follow at Niagara Lakeshore Cemetery. She has gone home now to be present with the lord. Online tributes can be shared at www.pjdartefh.ca
