Obituary of Patricia Blanchard

Blanchard, Patricia After courageously fighting ALS with dignity, grace and a lot of laughter, Pat passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Thursday April 17, 2014.In her 82nd year, Pat Blanchard (nee Gallagher), beloved wife of the late Vern Blanchard. Loving mother of Lori (Carey), Lisa,Lynn, Leanne (Gerry) and Jan (Richard). Loved Nanny of Tyler, Sunny, Jack, Cory, Michelle and Kayla.Dear sister of Ronnie O’Handley (Brenda) of Cape Breton and fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Leo and sisters Theresa and Linda. As a busy mother of five, Pat still found time to give tirelessly to others as a member of the Catholic Parent Teacher’s Association, St. Thomas Aquinas Church Catholic Women’s League, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Out of the Cold Program. Pat’s family wish to express their sincere thanks to the caregivers of March of Dimes and CCAC for their loving support over the years. Friends may call at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 7 to 9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church,316 Queenston St., St.Catharines (905-687-6971)on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations to either St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Thomas Aquinas Church or The March of Dimes would be appreciated by the family.
