Obituary of Eva Szasz-Peterffy

SZASZ-PETERFFY, Eva (Veronika) September 19, 1931 – March 5, 2023 With great sadness, we announce the death of Eva Szasz-Peterffy (aka Vera). Eva lived a long and productive life after surviving the Holocaust, and later arriving as a refugee from Hungary in 1956 with her first husband Paul. After Paul’s death in 1979, Eva continued their thriving fruit and poultry business in Beamsville, Ontario. She enjoyed twenty more years with her second husband Tibor Peterffy. Once again widowed, she nevertheless continued with strength and resilience, enjoying her winter home in Florida, her family, and her friends. She fully retired in 2017 and moved to Amica Dundas, where she lived out her remaining years, actively using the internet, following current events, and regularly zooming with her beloved family until near the very end. Eva is survived by her two daughters, Susan Fox and Lily Sazz-Fayter, sons in law Bernie Fox and Paul Fayter, grandsons Aaron Fox (Jen), Nathan Fox (Keren), step granddaughters Rachel Fayter and Meaghan Fayter, and 5 great grandchildren (Teah, Evan, and Reid Fox, and Noam and Avishai Fox). A ceremony of remembrance will be planned for Monday, April 10 with information to be announced. No flowers please. Donations in Eva’s name, to any charity of choice would be appreciated.
